SD002 – Developing Positive Behaviour at Work 1 & 2 days
Developing Positive Behaviour at Work 1 & 2 days
Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a structured, preventative and evidence based approach to addressing complex and challenging behaviors. This two-day course will guide participants through the steps necessary for developing a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) - the key component of an individual behavior support plan.
An FBA is also useful process for team members supporting individuals who require a more thorough consideration of a specific focus behavior. An FBA may be useful when the focus behavior is persistent, dangerous, highly disruptive and/or a frequent barrier to learning and engagement with others.
This course will utilize course participants’ case studies to examine the processes of an FBA including:
Assembling, skilling and supporting team members
Gathering detailed information about the individual
Prioritizing and choosing a focus behavior (goal setting)
Gathering information about the behavior of concern and choosing appropriate tools to determine the baseline and possible function of the behavior.
Developing and testing a hypothesis or reason for the behavior
Writing and implementing with fidelity an individual behavior support plan
